Additional Info About Gazork
Location: Toronto, Can.
Bio: Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and self-taught during his early years, studied trumpet and composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston. After graduating from Dalhousie University with a BSc in experimental psychology I moved to Toronto in 1968.

In Toronto immediately joined Lighthouse and toured and recorded with them for two years. In 1972 joined Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass and appeared on their first seven albums. During that time was also a member of Dr. Music and taught at Humber College. Joined Blood Sweat and Tears (BS&T) as their musical director in 1979 and toured and recorded with them for two years before moving to Los Angeles.

In 1980 accepted a film writing post in South Africa and worked as a film and media composer there for 23 years before returning to Toronto in 2003. In 2005 connected again with David Clayton-Thomas who had also just returned to Toronto and worked as his musical director for another five years. Now teach improvisation, trumpet, and supervise students’ final recording projects at Humber College. Am just completing MA studies in composition at York University in Toronto.

Lead three groups here in Toronto:
Bruce Cassidy’s Anti-Gravity Machine - a 15 piece jazz chamber jazz orchestra with strings
Bruce Cassidy’s Hotfoot Orchestra - a 6 horn jazz-fusion band
Bruce Cassidy’s Mbaqanga (pr. ba-conga) - a South African township jazz trio

Early performer on the Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI) ) from 1979 and use other new electronic music production techniques. My interest and experience ranges from pop to orchestral, from classic jazz to avant-garde.
